Along with my biography of Fred Ross, I’ve written three other books. Working in the Shadows, published in 2010, chronicles a year I spent working alongside Latino immigrants in low-wage, frequently backbreaking industries, from Arizona lettuce fields to a poultry plant in Alabama. You can read more about the book here. I also have a video about the book here.
My two other books are There’s No Jose Here: Following the Hidden Lives of Mexican Immigrants, which centers around a Mexican immigrant family from Puebla, and Calling All Radicals: How Grassroots Organizers Can Help Save Our Democracy, a memoir/guidebook/brief history of community organizing.
